SENA BIANNUAL MEETING (HYBRID MEETING)

Prof Michele Hu is a Professor at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Oxford and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at Oxford University Hospitals. She is a member of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Neurodegeneration Speciality Group, and is the NIHR Parkinson's Speciality Lead for the Thames Valley and South Midlands region.

Since 2015, she has chaired the Research Engagement Committee of the UK Parkinson's Excellence Network, and is a member of the Parkinson's UK Cohort Studies Council and Treasurer of the Association of British Neurologists Movement Disorders Special Interest Group (ABN-MDSIG).

Michele is co-Principle Investigator with Professor Richard Wade-Martins of the Oxford Parkinson's Disease Centre, and leads the Clinical Theme of this £10.7 million Monument Discovery 10 year award funded by Parkinson's UK to understand the earliest pathological pathways in PD.Her current academic funding facilitates translational research in the field of longitudinal cohort studies and biomarkers for early and prodromal Parkinson's disease, with particular focus on REM sleep behavior disorder and how sleep affects neurodegeneration.

Prof Arjune Sen is a Consultant Neurologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital, NIHR BRC Senior Research Fellow in Epileptology and is Head of the Oxford Epilepsy Research Group.

He is interested in cognitive, psychological and psychosocial difficulties in patients with epilepsy.

Prof Angela Vincent is Emeritus Professor of Neuroimmunology at the University of Oxford, and an Emeritus Fellow of Somerville College. She co-founded with Prof John Newsom-Davis (Action Research Chair of Clinical Neurology 1987-1998) the Neurosciences Group at the Royal Free Hospital in London before they moved to the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine in 1988.

From 1992 until 2016, she held an Honorary Consultant position in Immunology and ran the Clinical Neuroimmunology service. She was formerly Head of Department of Clinical Neurology (2005-2008), President of the International Society of Neuroimmunology, and an Associate Editor of Brain (2004-2013). She was elected to the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2003 and the Royal Society in 2011.

In 2018 she was awarded the Klaus Joachim Zülch Prize with J. Dalmau and J. Posner. She is now Emeritus Professor at Oxford, and also has honorary positions at University College and King's College London.

Prof Sarosh Irani is an MRC Senior Clinical Fellow at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Oxford and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford.

He is the Head of the Oxford Autoimmune Neurology Group, Senior Fellow of the Oxford BRC and Associate Editor of Brain. He was awarded the Graham Bull Prize in Clinical Science / Goulstonian Lectureship by the Royal College of Physicians.

Prof Simon Rinaldi is Associate Professor and MRC Clinician Scientist at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Assistant Director, Clinical Neurosciences Undergraduate Education at the University of Oxford, and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford.

His main research interest is in developing human cell-based assays to study the inflammatory neuropathies.

Prof Alastair Webb is a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Career Development Fellow at the Centre for Prevention of Stroke and Dementia at the University of Oxford, Fellow of the European Stroke Organisation and Neurology Consultant at the Department of Neurology at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

His research is focused on the physiological relationship between blood pressure, cerebrovascular physiology and stroke risk.

Prof Peter Rothwell is the Action Research Professor of Neurology, the Director of the Centre for Prevention of Stroke and Dementia, and Fellow of St Edmund Hall at the University of Oxford.

His main research interests are in the prevention of stroke, hypertension, the risks and benefits of aspirin, and the more general theme of how best to apply the results of clinical trials and other forms of research to clinical decisions with individual patients in routine clinical practice.

He is a Fellow at the Academy of Medical Sciences, has won the Senior Investigator Award of the National Institute of Health Research, the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Clinical Research of the British Medical Journal, the Foulkes Foundation Medal of the Academy of Medical Sciences, the Bienniel Award for Oustanding Contribution to Stroke Research of the World Stroke Organisation, an Honorary Professorial Fellowship at the George Institute, University of Sydney, the RD Wright Lectureship, of the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia, and the Senior Investigator Award of the Wellcome Trust.

His responsibilities outside Oxford include editorial duties for several international scientific journals, membership of committees of several multicentre trials, and several national and international scientific and advisory committees.

Dr Alexander G.Thompson is an MRC Clinician Scientist, Lady Edith Wolfson Fellow, and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the Oxford Motor Neurone Disease Centre.

His work primarily uses proteomic analysis of whole cerebrospinal fluid and extracellular vesicles (exosomes and microvesicles) extracted from cererbrospinal fluid, in collaboration with the Target Discovery Institute.
